Undersea cables, a new strategic battleground

Practically 1.5 million kilometres of submarine cables criss-cross the globe. The infrastructure is essential for each nationwide safety and financial stability. However an uptick in disruptions – notably within the Baltic Sea – has targeted consideration on the necessity to safeguard these networks. Whereas most of the outages seem unintentional, some could be attributed to sabotage by state-sponsored actors.
