Donald Trump signalled that smartphones and different client electronics imported to the US from China would face tariffs, dealing a blow to hopes of a reprieve for Large Tech corporations akin to Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft.
“NOBODY is getting “off the hook” for the unfair Commerce Balances, and Non Financial Tariff Obstacles, that different Nations have used towards us, particularly not China which, by far, treats us the worst!,” the US president wrote on his Fact Social platform.
His administration on Friday excluded telephones, chipmaking tools and sure computer systems from steep “reciprocal tariffs” in what was seen as a big increase for know-how teams, whose shares plunged after Trump unleashed a worldwide commerce conflict on April 2.
