German Chancellor seeks "right balance" in his first official visit to China

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is visiting China on a two-day journey beginning Wednesday.  He is the most recent in a string of Western leaders to try to search new partnerships with the Asian big in current weeks, amid Donald Trump’s commerce warfare towards the remainder of the world.  It is a delicate balancing act for the German chief because the nation’s business has been squeezed by competitors from China.
