Gabon's ousted Ali Bongo released from detention

Former Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba and his household have left Gabon and flown to Angola after being launched from custody. It follows a sequence of occasions stemming from the August 2023 navy coup that ended the Bongo household’s 56-year rule. Bongo was detained, together with this spouse and son, accused of embezzling public funds.
