Bangladesh elections: Islamist-led coalition hopes for chance at power

Bangladesh has held its first elections since a pupil revolution deposed autocratic chief Sheikh Hasina in 2024. Hasina’s essential rival, the Bangladesh Nationalist Occasion (BNP), is now projected to win. But the largest improvement is the resurgence of the Islamist get together Jamaat-e-Islami, which was banned underneath Hasina.
