President Donald Trump bizarrely boasted that Europeans name him “daddy” throughout a speech on the World Financial Discussion board 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, on Wednesday.

The appropriate-wing chief made the feedback after telling the group that he’s been coping with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, each of whom he mentioned he believes “wish to make a deal” amid ongoing talks for a Russia-Ukraine peace deal.

“However they’ve obtained to get that warfare stopped, as a result of too many individuals are dying, needlessly dying,” he continued. “Too many souls are being misplaced. It’s the one motive I’m taken with doing it.”

Claiming that he’s been “serving to” Europe and NATO, Trump then veered off matter, saying that “they cherished me” up till he tried to annex Greenland — besides he incorrectly referred to Greenland as Iceland.

“They referred to as me ‘Daddy,’ proper? The final time? [A] very sensible man mentioned, ‘He’s our daddy. He’s operating it,’” he added with out naming the person he was referring to. “I used to be, like, operating it. I went from operating it to being a horrible human being.”

Trump has been on a quest to manage Greenland, sparking pushback from European leaders and allies who’ve harassed that the annexation of the territory would demolish NATO. In response to the dispute, Trump threatened final week to punish international locations that don’t assist his transfer to acquire Greenland with tariffs.

However Trump surprisingly walked back his tariff threats on Wednesday.

“Now what I’m asking for is a chunk of ice, chilly and poorly positioned that may play an important function in world peace and world safety,” he mentioned.

Calling his need to acquire the European territory “a really small ask in comparison with what now we have given them for a lot of, many many years,” he went on to argue that “the issue with NATO” is the U.S. “will likely be there for them 100%, however I’m unsure that they’d be there for us if we gave them the decision.”

“‘Gents, we’re being attacked. We’re underneath assault by such and such a nation,’” he mentioned mimicking a fake name. “I do know all of them very effectively. I’m unsure that they’d be there. I do know we’d be there for them. I don’t know that they might be there for us.”

NATO notably assisted the U.S. within the wake of Sept. 11 by invoking Article 5, which states that “an armed assault in opposition to one NATO member shall be thought-about an assault in opposition to all of them.”

“So with all the cash we expend, with all of the blood, sweat and tears, I don’t know that they’d be there for us,” he alleged. “They’re not there for us on Iceland. That I can let you know.”

He added: “I imply our stock market took the first dip yesterday due to Iceland. So Iceland’s already value us some huge cash.”
