A billion years in the past, as one tectonic plate ripped aside from one other, two chambers of magma have been sealed off beneath what would later develop into Greenland. As 1000’s of years handed, the magma cooled, every layer crystallising beneath rarefied circumstances. At the moment the Ilimaussaq intrusion is a big fold of rock beneath Gardar, in south-west Greenland. By a stroke of luck, it’s house to 30 of the world’s most desired uncooked supplies.
