Syria fights 'catastrophic' wildfires for fourth consecutive day

Syrian authorities mentioned wildfires have turned 100 sq km (40 sq miles) of forest “to ash” in Latakia province, as Jordanian firefighters arrived Sunday to assist battle blazes for a fourth day. Crews face excessive warmth, winds, tough terrain, and unexploded ordnance amid Syria’s protracted battle and financial disaster.
